About Rogersville
For those who are considering the purchase of Rogersville real estate, this city has quite a history. This is one of the oldest towns in Tennessee and was settled in the early 1780s. The downtown area contains many historic buildings including the Rogers Tavern on South Rogers. This building was built in 1786 and served as a stage coach stop for travelers going to Kentucky as well as the Cumberland settlements. The grandparents of Davy Crockett lived in a cabin by Crockett Creek, which runs through the town. The city square is the focus of the downtown area. As a small town with plenty of atmosphere, Rogersville has a variety of outdoor activities that are enjoyed by many. Cherokee Lake is often chosen by campers and people who enjoy fishing, boating, picnicking and swimming. It is a short trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. There are also a variety of shopping centers, restaurants and movie theaters, providing numerous prospects for entertainment and recreation.
Rogersville has an approximate population of 5,100 people. U.S. Highway 11W, Lee Highway, State Route 70 and Trail of the Lonesome Pine provide easy access while allowing residents to retain the ambiance of small town living.
